The Links Settings Explained
Updated over a week ago

The latest update in CodeDesign.ai has moved the Link section to the top of the sidebar, making it easier to access, right above the Layout settings. This new position streamlines the process of managing links across your website’s elements.

We've also created a detailed demo video that walks you through all the options available in the Link settings. This video pairs perfectly with the article, providing a step-by-step visual guide to setting up various types of links in CodeDesign Builder.

To add a link, you must first select an element—such as the ‘About’ menu item in this example—and then access the Link settings in the sidebar. From here, you'll find several options to control how your links behave:

  • None: No link will be assigned.

  • Page: Link to a specific page within your project.

  • Current Page Section: Link to a section within the same page using anchors.

  • Custom URL: Redirect to an external website.

  • Email Link: Open a new email in the user’s default email client.

  • Phone Link: Dial a phone number directly from mobile devices.

For example, selecting the "Page" option lets you link directly to any page within your project, like an About page. There's also an option to set an anchor point, which we'll explore later.

If you want to link to an external site, you can choose the "Custom URL" option and type in the desired address. For instance, linking the "Partner Program" menu item to an external page is as simple as typing the relevant URL, such as google.com.

To link to a specific section of a page, such as a form, you'll need to create an anchor. After selecting the element (in this case, a form), assign it an anchor name like "form-demo." Then, in the link settings, choose the "Current Page Section" option and select the anchor you just created. You can also enable smooth scrolling for a more refined user experience.

For email and phone links, simply input the relevant email address or phone number. Clicking these links will open the appropriate application: an email client for emails or a dialer for phone numbers.

Once you've set everything up, publishing allows you to test the links. Whether it’s an external site, a page within your project, a specific section, or even an email or phone link, you’ll be able to see them all in action.

That’s how easy it is to manage links in CodeDesign.ai! If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out through our support channels or community forum.
